Matching wood stain and wood finishes is difficult for experienced woodworkers and trades people, let alone a hobby woodworker or furniture enthusiast. This course specializes in teaching the skills to understand colour, patterns, texture, and the sheen of finishes to successfully match colour and look of the desired wood finish.
This is a hands-on course, delivered remotely so you don't need to travel. The course is taught by Scott Bennett, the host of our Fixing Furniture YouTube channel. You will join Scott weekly, via video conference to learn and ask questions.
We start the course with the fundamentals of understanding wood, colour, stains, and finishes. From there, we build your skills with hands-on exercises using our course supply kit, which is shipped to you upon registration. The kit includes:
- 6 wood stain bottles, using the latest stain technology ($150 value)
- 3 paints to learn colour theory
- 2 types of shellac flakes
- Finish application supplies (brushes, cloths, dispensers, containers, mixing cup, steel wool, sandpaper, etc.)
- Edge banding wood veneer samples
